Executive Order Rescheduling Cannabis
Today, the President of the United States has issued an Executive Order directing the Attorney General to expedite completion of the process of rescheduling cannabis to Schedule III under the U.S. Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C.). The Maryland Cannabis Administration provides notice that while the federal government pursues rescheduling the Maryland law remains fully operative and unchanged, and state licensing and enforcement continues as enacted by Maryland General Assembly. The Administration is currently reviewing the federal action in coordination with legal counsel and state leadership and will provide further guidance to Maryland stakeholders including licensed businesses.
