2026 Annual Canopy Report Due October 1, 2026
This memorandum serves as a formal reminder that all licensed growers are required to submit their annual canopy report to the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) on or before October 1, 2026. Please use this form to submit your report. COMAR 14.17.06.06(c), COMAR 14.17.07.05(c)
To ensure the accurate calculation of the flowering canopy, licensees must consult the July 2026 issue of the Canopy Guidance. This guidance provides a standardized approach for measuring space used to produce flowering cannabis plants, including specific instructions for vertical cultivation tiers and distinguishing between indoor and outdoor cultivation areas.
Compliance Best Practices
Licensees should adhere to the following best practices to maintain regulatory compliance:
- Maintain Current Floor Plans: Clearly identify and distinguish flowering, vegetative, and support areas.
- Retain Detailed Records: Keep all measurement records, diagrams, and calculations available for inspection.
- Prior Approval for Modifications: A 'Request for Modification/Renovation of Premises' form must be submitted and approved by the MCA before any canopy expansion or premises reconfiguration.
Accurate reporting is critical. The MCA may conduct inspections of licensed premises to verify reported data. We appreciate your partnership in upholding the standards and integrity of Maryland's cannabis industry.
